Value and buying
Price per ml is the plain way to compare luxury skincare. Divide the price by the size in ml; for fluid ounces, 1 US fl oz is 29.57 ml.
- 1 US fl oz
- 29.57 ml
- $380 for 50 ml
- $7.60 per ml

Sizes are printed in ml and in fluid ounces, and the two do not always round the same way: 50 ml is about 1.7 fl oz, 30 ml about 1 fl oz. Converting everything to price per ml makes a 15 ml eye cream, a 50 ml cream and a 230 ml essence comparable. The price per ml calculator does it for up to three products at once.
Refills, larger sizes and gift sets can lower the price per ml, but only if you use the product before its period after opening. That is the open-jar symbol on the box with a number and M, such as 12M for twelve months. Store jars closed, away from heat and direct light.
Buy from the brand or an authorized seller where you can. The batch code printed on the box helps confirm when the product was made.
Ready when: You know the size in ml, the price per ml, the period after opening, and who is selling the product.
Common mistakes
- Comparing sticker prices across different sizes.
- Buying a 100 ml jar of a cream you use slowly, past its period after opening.
- Ignoring the seller on a listing for a costly cream.
