Eye care
Eye creams and eye serums come in small sizes, usually 15 ml, and are used in tiny amounts along the orbital bone. Their price per ml is often the highest in a brand's line.
- Typical size
- 15 ml (0.5 fl oz)
- Amount per use
- a rice grain for both eyes

Eye products are formulated and labeled by the brand for use around the eyes, which a face cream may not be. Many come in a tube with a metal tip or a pump instead of a jar, and the label says whether the product is meant for the upper lid as well.
The usual method is to tap a small amount along the orbital bone with the ring finger, under the eye and over the outer brow bone, and to stay off the lash line. Eye cream goes on after serum and before face cream.
Because a 15 ml jar can cost as much as a 50 ml face cream, it is worth working out the price per ml before choosing between an eye cream and a brand's face cream that is labeled for use around the eyes.
Common mistakes
- Applying eye cream right up to the lash line.
- Rubbing or dragging instead of tapping.
- Using the same amount as a face cream.
