Lancôme sells two lines that both target signs of aging, and the price gap between them is large. This page is for shoppers who like Lancôme and want to know what they get by moving up from Rénergie to Absolue. We compare what each line lists as key ingredients, textures, packaging, sizes and price per ml. Absolue facts come from Amazon Luxury Beauty listings. Rénergie details come from what Lancôme publishes, so check the brand's site for current sizes and prices.

Two tiers in one brand

Rénergie is Lancôme's core anti-aging line. Well-known products include Rénergie H.P.N. 300-Peptide Cream, which Lancôme says pairs hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacinamide, and the Rénergie Lift Multi-Action creams, sold as day and night versions. The line is widely available and sits at a lower price than Absolue.

Absolue is Lancôme's prestige line. Listings name rose ingredients such as Grand Rose Extracts or Perpetual Rose extract, plus Pro-Xylane and Absolue PDRN. Most creams come in heavy refillable jars, and the line covers every step from Rose 80 toning lotion to serum, creams and eye care. See what is Lancôme Absolue and our Absolue products guide.

Spec table

Absolue rows use listing facts and listing prices at the time of writing. Rénergie rows use brand-published information only.

What the Absolue price adds

Going by what Lancôme publishes, the Absolue premium buys three things. First, a different ingredient story: rose extracts and Absolue PDRN are exclusive to the Absolue line. Second, packaging: heavy jars designed for refills, so later purchases cost less per ml. Third, a fuller ritual: Absolue has its own toning lotion, serum, creams in two textures, and eye products, designed to be used together.

What it does not guarantee is a different result on your skin. We cannot promise one line works better. If a specific ingredient matters to you, such as niacinamide or peptides, compare the full ingredient lists on Lancôme's site; our guide to reading ingredient lists shows how.

Textures and how to choose within each line

Absolue offers a clear texture split: The Soft Cream for a light finish, The Rich Cream for dry skin. Our Soft Cream vs Rich Cream page covers that choice in detail.

Rénergie also sells lighter and richer creams and separate day and night versions. The Rénergie Lift Multi-Action day cream is labeled SPF 15, as is the Absolue Premium Bx Day Cream. If you want a higher SPF, add a separate sunscreen; see sunscreen in a luxury routine and our day cream with SPF guide.

Price per ml and refills

Absolue creams on the listings here range from $3.99 per ml (74 ml day cream) to $5.67 per ml (30 ml Soft Cream). The 59 ml refills bring the creams down to $4.10 per ml. Our refills explainer shows how to factor that in.

Rénergie usually costs noticeably less per ml than Absolue. Take the current price and size from Lancôme's site or the retailer you use and run it through the price per ml calculator next to an Absolue refill.

Note.Lancôme updates both lines regularly. Check the product name and ingredient list on the box against what you expected to buy.

Who picks which

Pick Absolue if you enjoy the ritual of a heavy jar, want the rose and PDRN formulas, and plan to keep buying refills, which narrows the price gap over time. It also makes sense if you want a toner, serum and cream that are designed to work as one routine.

Pick Rénergie if you want a Lancôme cream built around familiar ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacinamide, and you would rather spend less per ml. You can always add one Absolue product, such as the serum, on top of a Rénergie cream. For a wider view of other houses, see Shiseido Future Solution LX vs Lancôme Absolue.

How to use either line

Both lines follow the standard order: cleanse, toner, serum, eye cream, cream, and sunscreen last in the morning. A pea-size amount of cream covers most faces. Our skincare routine order page lays out the steps, and how much face cream to use covers amounts.

  1. 1

    Cleanse and pat dry.

  2. 2

Apply toner such as Absolue Rose 80, if you use one.

  3. 3

    Apply serum.

  4. 4

Apply a pea-size amount of cream, pressed in and smoothed outward.

  5. 5

    Morning: finish with sunscreen.
